Cabinet

I ended up using plywood for the base for some added strength, and attached it with 1x2 boards to help bear the weight of the cabinet.
The swooping top is attached with carriage bolts.
The control panel in this picture is a mock-up from the prototype so I could test the "playability." The actual control panel will probably be an inch or two wider than this, and built from Melamine.
Here is a close-up of a joint made with pocket screws. The monitor shelf is made of plywood for strength. You can see the back panel door with hardware to lock it in place.
